wwht 2019 | the sights

Day 1: As we travel on the Flybus to Reykjavik we feel like we are on another planet! The rock formations look truly extraterrestrial. Davines is awaiting our arrival in the hotel lobby. Cutesy robot cardboard cutouts are found all over the Fosshotel. Immediately after checkin we are off to our first tour because we are two girls who hate wasting time.

Moments later we find ourselves on yet another Flybus, We’re beginning to think we are not cut out for all this sitting. First stop on the Golden Circle tour: Thingvellir National Park, a filming location for Game of Thrones. Of course we had to really explore around for our girl Kim. She would love this place and would make a great tour guide. Second stop: Gullfoss to watch geysers erupt. It's shocking to walk next to trickling streams of water that reach over 200 degrees, thank god for rubber soles. The geyser explodes and it really was a sight to see of course my video has a gentleman standing right in the middle. Last stop: The Golden Waterfall our favorite part of the tour. It's as if the earth just opened up and water started pouring out. We came for hair but are thankful we were able to explore this beautiful country.

Day Two: A tour with hairdressers is awesome on so many levels. Let’s get to the good stuff, the outfits. Its absolutely freezing and we have leather leggings and platforms happening! One thing can be said we all had great hair. First stop: build a forest. We were given a shovel and small branch like thing to plant. We are planting trees to help Iceland build forests and make the WWHT2019 a carbon neutral event. It was amazing to see so many hairdressers who share the same values. Onto to the bubbling pots of sulfur and yes it does smell as bad as they say! Last stop: The Bridge Between Two Continents. Standing on black sand we were in between two tectonic plates and it was totally awesome!

Dinner: The Harpa Concert Hall Icelandic architecture at its finest. Two thousand hairdressers enjoying dinner inside that incredible building was definitely as fun as it sounds. Followed by The Harpa Concert Hall becoming a late night music/light show.

Day Three: We just cannot sit on another bus so we decide to walk to the Harpa for the show. The lineup is amazing! Instead of staying for the provided lunch we skip out and treat ourselves to some hydrotherapy. On the way we walk by a store called “Hocus Pocus” and being girls from Massachusetts we HAD to go in. Its a costume and toy store that we had way too much fun in. The public pools are freaking awesome and were our favorite part of the trip. We hopped from pool to pool and even dipped into the cold plunge.

Last day: Finally we are visiting Icelands most famous attraction, The Blue Lagoon. Its even more beautiful in person! This air is cold and the water so warm. Everyone gets a silica face mask that you wash off in the water when dried. We end our day with a late lunch at the Lava restaurant with a truly stunning view. Headed to the airport we both decide we are moving to Iceland….. one day.
